Blepharoplasty

Eyelid aesthetics, known as blepharoplasty in the medical language, is among the most common aesthetic applications of recent times. It is a procedure performed to remove the sagging of the lower and upper eyelids due to aging. In addition, the operation can be performed due to genetic reasons and traumas experienced as a result of accidents. Apart from this, eyelid aesthetic applications come to the fore for sagging that occurs as a result of reasons such as infection.
This procedure is mostly performed by individuals over the age of 35. The reason for this is that the signs of aging on the eyelids usually begin to appear after these ages. However, it is possible for anyone who needs this operation medically to have it done. The operation does not prevent the ongoing aging of the eyelids; but it lasts for 7-8 years. After the operation, the tired facial expression of the patient disappears. Instead, the patient’s face gains a lively and serene appearance.

Before The Surgery

Before the operation, the patient should give some information to the doctor and anesthesiologist who will perform the aesthetic surgery. The patient should inform the doctor about all the details about the drugs he/she uses and his/her general health. One week before the operation, it is necessary to stop using drugs such as blood thinners.
In addition, the use of herbal teas and fish oils should be stopped in this process. As in all operations, it is recommended to stop smoking and alcohol consumption at least one week before eyelid surgery. This is a very important issue for the healing process to go faster.

During The Surgery

In this surgery, excess skin and muscle tissue in the eye area is removed. The procedure is started by making an incision from the fold line of the eyelid. In this way, the operation scar is not visible. The under-eye lid is corrected through the incision made 1.5 mm below the eyelashes. Depending on the type of deformation, the fat bags are taken out, the skin in front of the bagging is tightened. In addition, the tissues in the area where the bags are formed are distributed towards the upper part of the cheek. The incision is carefully stitched from the lash line area, so there is no surgical scar.

After The Surgery

The edema that occurs in the first days after the surgery usually disappears at the end of the first week. And the patient can easily continue his normal life in the second week after the operation. Smoking and alcohol consumption should be avoided in order for patients to have a quick recovery process.
